Dear Friends,
We've shared with you in recent weeks about the challenges facing the institution of marriage. Earlier this week, President Obama signed a memorandum granting many benefits to the same-sex partners of federal employees. This action is in direct contradiction to the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), the policy behind which was to ensure that the benefits of marriage will not be given to other relationships.
It's important to point out that the term "marriage" and the benefits of marriage should be reserved for the union of a man and a woman because it's the best family structure in which to raise and nurture children. The government should put its seal of approval on one-man, one-woman marriage because it's society's most pro-child institution. I'm sure you'll agree that we should do everything we can to give our kids the best chance to have both a mom and a dad.
Tax Dollars for Abortions
Our report also highlights the building battle over taxpayer funding of abortions. Right now, Congress is working on a variety of spending bills that have historically included pro-life funding restrictions, also known as "riders," that help keep our tax dollars from funding abortions in the U.S. and abroad.
We've been closely monitoring the spending bills because we know the Democrat-controlled Congress is likely to try to remove those riders from the spending bills. For more information,

Special Event this Fall
Finally, there's good news to share with you. This fall, concerned citizens from across the country will be gathering in our nation's capital to hear from pro-family leaders, including our very own President and CEO Jim Daly, as well as conservative elected officials who are standing in the gap for the family.
The Values Voter Summit is an important gathering designed to help educate and equip those who want to make a difference in the public square on behalf of the family.
God bless you and your family.
For faith and family,
Tom Minnery
